Hello hello!
11 blogs in (this year) and I have almost fulfilled my New Year’s Resolution! Yes I know… I’ve even surprised myself. I guess with the combination of my resolution, and unexpectedly being gifted the time to think, and write whilst we were on lockdown it has made it that little bit easier. I actually started writing this before November ended, but it wasn’t finished and now it’s into December and it’s only being uploaded now, sorry! I tried my best…. Honest!
If I thought the return to school wasn’t busy enough, this month has stepped it up just that little bit more. I’m not sure if it’s just me but this November seems to have been the hardest month in school yet. If you think about a normal November in the school year, but multiply it by 10 and perhaps more, and you will begin to understand what I’m sure many people working in a school currently are feeling right not. It is no longer just teacher tired, it is EXTREME teacher tired. Due to the restrictions in place and the blurry government guidance putting an emphasis on schools doing ‘what works for them’ school leaders and staff are constantly assessing, evaluating and changing their practice and risk assessments to ensure the people we are looking after daily are as safe as they can possibly be, whilst they are under our care. This is not only physically draining but also mentally and emotionally draining too. Without the usual Christmassy events to get us through, this year is going to look so very different but we will, as we always do step up to the challenge and hopefully send the children on their way happy, smiling and ready for Christmas, having had a lovely few weeks safely enjoying the more fun things Christmas time in school brings! We on the other hand will look forward to sending them on their way before collapsing into bed and drinking a large glass of wine… or something along those lines :P.

In other news, we are almost out of another lockdown and will be entering into Tier 2 meaning I will finally be able to see Lisa again, properly, and not from afar! Since moving out in lockdown, we haven’t really yet been able to experience ‘normality’ with her; being able to pop in and have a cuppa, or stay at hers for the night, or have a large gathering at hers. I’m sure once this is all resolved and COVID has been kicked as much to curb as is possible, all this will happen but I don’t think it has properly sunk in yet that my twin does not ‘live’ in the same house as me anymore, and I am pretty sure Ciara isn’t far behind. Surely this’ll mean that one day in the near future I will have to get myself in gear and go on the hunt for a little flat of my own? We’ll see….
As you may have already noticed, November’s blog is not focused on one particular thing and seems to have taken a rambling approach again. Sorry… as I said, long month with so much to do.
Theatres are on the brink of reopening soon(ish) with socially distanced audiences, and man am I here for that! First on our list in February (should have been Jan…) is Les Mis the Staged concert. I actually cannot wait to walk through those doors again, sit in those seats, wait for the lights to go down ready for the show to start! I will not be held responsible for my emotions that day! Theatre = escaping, and god am I ready for that!

A short but sweet one this month… sorry… I’m off to sleep (after I’m a Celeb).
I will try to get my next one up before Christmas but if I don’t, MERRY CHRISTMAS! Enjoy yourself, and I hope you can find some peace, happiness and light! Eat, drink and be merry!
See you next month!
Sinead xx
