Better late than never?

Hello!

7 days late… just pretend it’s still April J.

Recently at school as a Art/PSHE focus we took some time to have a look at the gorgeous book ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’ by Charlie Macksey. Although I had seen many of Charlie Macksey’s pictures before on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and had even bought his book during the first lockdown, it wasn’t until this term when I actually took the time to properly look, and take in the messages Charlie has displayed through his amazing artwork and the story of ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’.

The book has meaning for everyone, children and adults alike and everyone can relate in one way or another. So this month I just wanted to share some of the amazing pictures and messages- they say more than I ever could!

No matter how small or insignificant you feel on any given day- you are making a huge difference to someone else, most likely even without you realising you are doing so.
Even when you feel like you can’t see the end, and everything feels heavy and dark, just remember the end is there, the clouds will lift and life will move on and become better- just keep going.
Well isn’t this the truth! I don’t think any more words are necessary.

Kindness- the most important thing. If we are kind, the world is a much better place. I cannot stand deliberate unkindness- it really confuses me. Why would anyone go out of their way, whether that is physically in person, or from behind a computer screen to be deliberately rude, insensitive or hurtful to another human being? Mind-boggling!

Sometimes we are far too busy stressing about the little things, looking for the next job, the next exciting project, that we forget to take a step back and see how far we have come.

As I have quite openly said in the past, never in a month of Sundays did I ever think I would become a teacher- still not quite convinced. Standing in front of a class was never something I thought I would be comfortable doing, but here I am 5 years down the line still getting away with ‘pretending’ I know what I am doing and ‘pretending’ to be more confident than really I am feeling. I stress about the littlest things, that isn’t going to change unfortunately, and I admit I forget more often than not to look back at how far I have come.

Final one for today… my friends remember, even on your down days- you are enough (yes, even if you are sitting in your PJs until 2pm, having eaten a whole big bar of Dairy Milk, whilst binge-watching Line of Duty because you missed the boat, despite promising yourself you would be really productive today and not give into the procrastination…).

There are so many more I would love to show off but that would mean using the whole book and you know copyright… and also part of the impact of the book comes from holding it and experiencing it for yourself!

Please go and check out this book- Charlie is a genius, and I can’t get over how insanely talented he is! Honestly it will change your life!

Enjoy May!

I’ll try not to be late next time!

Sinead xx
