I’m back… sort of!
What a couple of months it has been. I fully intended on writing another blog at the end of June/beginning of July but as you can see it never happened. Work got super busy, and to be quite honest I was shattered. I would come home from work, sort stuff for the next day; along with getting end of year paperwork completed and then collapse in bed ready to start it all over again tomorrow. Blogging slipped further and further down the to do list and hence here we are. New Year’s resolution has been broken- somewhat but from the things that have happened over the past 2 and a half months- I am good with that.
Thinking this is going to be another blog that is a little all over the place with no real topic- a life update. First thing’s first:

Work
As with any other year, the summer term; despite many people’s perceptions, is actually one of the hardest times of the year. Along with the usual teaching and learning that needs to be completed before the children head off for their summer hols, and school staff breathe a huge sigh of relief before rolling into a ball and hibernating for at least a week, there is also the question of ensuring data collection is done, submitted, and checked off, and that all the paperwork that comes with moving your class up into the next year group is completed. It isn’t an easy task and takes quite a bit of your time.
This year I will be moving up to Year 6- isn’t that insane! Even the thought of it sends me into a tailspin. I am used to the idea now, and as soon as I knew the current Year 6 teacher was leaving, it was only a matter of time before myself or the Year 4 teacher would be heading that way. Year 6 sounds so big doesn’t it; proper grown up. I am just hoping I can do a good job and help my class to succeed in any way they can. The class I will be taking up will be my class from last year, but also will be the class I started out on my teaching career with. A beautiful full circle 🙂

Life
It’s not been an amazing time for our family these last few months. Due to the COVID pandemic over the past year and half, we haven’t been able to see my dad’s side of the family very much (as like every other person in the world right now). However, during the pandemic my Uncle came over to have some tests done and unfortunately found that tumours had reappeared and they were inoperable this time. Therefore when he messaged us about gathering for a Fathers’ Day type get together, everyone immediately cleared their diaries and replied saying they would be there. I don’t know why, but it was like we all knew this could very well be the last time we saw him.
One thing about our family (both sides) is that we have been brought up to look after each other, and if nothing else, keeping your family safe, happy and healthy is the most important thing in the world. Micéal did not let the illness that clearly was troubling him overtake the opportunity to spend time with us all and speak with everyone who attended. It was a lovely afternoon and a good time to catch up with everything we had missed over the last year and a half.
Unfortunately, that Fathers’ Day gathering was to be the last time we would see my Uncle as he passed away peacefully on July 15th, just 3 and a half weeks later. An absolutely remarkable man, and someone who showed strength, love and resilience in all parts of his life, no matter what barriers were thrown his way. A man who was loved fiercely and will be remembered with the same ferocity.

Other
Finally, recommendations… I haven’t had a chance to read any books yet this summer surprisingly. But I am planning on beginning my new book straight after this blog is finally published… eventually.
However, Outer Banks Season 2 has been released on Netflix and if you haven’t seen it, where have you been? What have you been doing with your life? I mean, I loved it, you may not on the level I did, who knows, but I thought it really was great. A good, easy watch, with an interesting story which eventually all links together and a brilliant cast who all shine in their own right. With all those things in there, I can’t imagine why someone wouldn’t like it? My sisters may argue with me there as they are fed up of my liking of things on Twitter and have tried to put a ban on me doing it… sorry girls, I can’t help it :).

Next month, I hope to have a better blog for you, but as I said things have happened, blogging kept being pushed back and so here we are. I told you, not a theme-orientated blog here. Just needed to get something out and I felt this appropriate for how everything feels right now… everything’s weird!
